Trending Score
The trending score is Hugging Face's own measure of which models the community is engaging with right now — a momentum signal, not a quality grade.
The Hub computes it from recent activity around a model — downloads, likes, attention — with the exact recipe kept internal. It is the closest public thing to a live "what is everyone looking at" signal for open models.
Read it for what it is. It spikes when a model is new, favors announcements, and says nothing by itself about whether a model is good at your task or runs on your machine. A quiet workhorse can serve millions while a novelty tops the chart for a week.
That is why it works best beside other measurements rather than alone: paired with download counts, prices and hardware fit, momentum becomes context instead of hype.
Where you see it on the radar
The board shows the trending score raw with its source label, and the Heat Score uses it as one weighted component among five — never as the whole story.
